Well it is a nice Spring Day in Illinois. Once Again it is time to celebrate Our rich American History. And there is one great group of individuals that are celebrating that History through what is called Living History.

They The 10th Illinois Volunteer Infantry, Co H "The Sandwich Guards" Civil War Reenactors. They are a great group of Historians who bring the Civil War alive by actually living as the Company they portray.

On Saturday April 14, 2007 We find Ourselves at Graue Mill and museum in Oak Brook, Illinois. The 10th Illinois Volunteer Infantry, Co H take part in Civil War Day. This Civil War Day was sponsored by The Hinsdale Library and was part of The Big Read Program. Over half a dozen libraries in the West Suburban Area take part in this Big Read Program. This Year's theme for the Big Read Program was the Civil War and featured programs and events at these libraries about The Civil War.

This program today let people Experience first-hand the life of Civil War soldiers at this Union encampment on the grounds at Graue Mill.

The 10th Illinois Infantry was the only regiment from the state to be mustered into service while in the field in April 1861. After three years of action in war, the 10th Infantry reenlisted in 1864 as a veteran regiment and participated in Sherman's march to the sea.
